Village Kitchen Hiriketiya offers an authentic Sri Lankan cooking experience where guests learn to prepare traditional dishes in a hands-on, home-style environment. All cooking classes are officially managed through the Village Kitchen Hiriketiya website. All you need to know about our classes are here!

We do not operate or accept bookings via GetYourGuide or any other external platforms. We have a TripAdvicer Ofiicial listing. To ensure you are booking the authentic experience and to avoid confusion with similarly named listings, please head directly to our official site to secure your spot. Booking Process

All cooking classes must be booked exclusively through the official website to ensure proper scheduling and availability.

All Bookings are submitted online, ONLY through the official cooking class page.
We only accept the bookings from our official website.
Each booking is confirmed based on availability.
Public Classes operate on approved schedules.
Private Classes: often called custom classes are scheduled by review/approval.

Once a request is submitted, confirmation will be provided depending on availability.

Booking & Confirmation Policy

Village Kitchen Hiriketiya offers two types of cooking class bookings:

Scheduled Classes (Instant Confirmation)

These are pre-planned classes organized by us

Available on selected days and times

Bookings are confirmed immediately (if slots are available)

Custom Scheduled Classes (On Request)(Private)

Guests are welcome to request a different date or time for their cooking class.
All such requests are subject to review and approval, and confirmation will be provided after checking availability.

We offer flexible custom class options, allowing you to personalize your experience:

Choose number of participants
Select number of curries
Decide which curries you would like to prepare

Our standard pricing is:

LKR 5,500 – 5 curries
LKR 7,000 – 7 curries

These prices apply when using the default class settings. The final price per person may vary depending on your customizations and any special requests.

Important Notes

All custom classes are treated as private sessions
Custom classes cannot be made public or commission-based bookings
Pricing may adjust based on group size, menu selection, and special requirements

Cancellation Policy

Unlike many platforms, we offer a flexible cancellation option for your convenience.

You may cancel your booking free of charge at any time. As we currently operate on a cash-on-arrival basis, no advance payment is required, and therefore no refunds are applicable. Payments are only made at the venue during your visit.

However, we kindly request that you cancel your booking at least 1 hour in advance and inform us with an additional message.

How to Cancel Your Booking

Go to your Order Portal
Enter your Booking ID
- (This is provided in your confirmation email sent by our team — not the instant order email)
- Alternatively, access your booking profile directly through the confirmation email
Scroll down and click “Cancel Booking”
Fill out the required details
Submit the cancellation via WhatsApp (automatically triggered)
- Note: This feature currently runs on Kitchen Engine 1.0 (legacy WhatsApp system)
Wait for our confirmation

Once submitted, your request will be reviewed and confirmed shortly.

Important Notes

Your booking profile will be automatically deleted after 1 weeks
If you plan to book another class within that period, you may request to retain your profile
After deletion, you may lose any special offers or bonus benefits linked to the cancelled booking

Cooking classes are held on a scheduled basis:

Days: Monday to Friday
Note: Classes are typically not available on Wednesdays
Time: Often between 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM (time can be change depend on public class or private class)

Custom Classes:
Private custom classes are available upon approval. Requests must be submitted through our official website.

After the cooking session ends, restaurant service usually begins from around 6:00 PM onwards.

The Kitchen Engine

The Kitchen Engine is the core system used by Village Kitchen Hiriketiya to manage the entire website and booking operations.

Kitchen Engine 1.0 was built with a basic setup, primarily powered by simple JavaScript logic. Key features included manual workflows and WhatsApp-triggered actions for tasks such as booking communication and cancellations.

As of April 2026, Kitchen Engine 2.0 has been successfully launched at Village Kitchen Hiriketiya. This upgraded system introduces more advanced functionality, enabling efficient management of cooking class bookings and other complex operations. It has significantly enhanced the online experience and created strong engagement across our digital platforms.

In addition to improvements on the customer side, Kitchen Engine 2.0 also introduced several internal systems to the Village Kitchen family, including:

A dedicated email notification system
A Point of Sale (POS) system
An improved billing system

However, certain features—such as booking cancellations—are still managed using Kitchen Engine 1.0, as part of the legacy WhatsApp-based workflow.

The entire Kitchen Engine system has been independently developed by Village Kitchen Hiriketiya, with a strong focus on simplicity and ease of use for customers.

Looking ahead, Kitchen Engine III is currently in development and is expected to launch by the end of this year, bringing fully automated processes and even more advanced features across all sections.
